Milwaukee Center For Independence (MCFI) Position Description Healthcare Programs Trainer Position Type: Regular/Full Time/Exempt/Non-Union NATURE OF WORK: This professional position is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving training success in healthcare related curriculums in accordance with Wisconsin regulations and MCFI policies. The position also provides leadership and organizational vision for continuous quality improvement and growth in the Direct Care Worker Training Programs. This position works collaboratively with MCFI staff, NHS, MCDA, and other business client contracts. This position reports to the Manager of Caregiver Training Programs . POSITION MISSION: The mission of this position is to improve the quality of care delivery through staying abreast of standards of care and create a stable workforce for direct care workers by offering enhanced training, a supportive work environment, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties listed below may vary in terms of importance and others may be added or eliminated as this position develops. In addition, specific positions within the classification may have special duties and special qualifications. 1. Implements instructional program that contributes to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. 2. Develops and implements a prescribed curriculum of direct care worker training programs. Works closely with the Caregiver Training Manager to recommend short and long-range plans for training development. 3. Implements and facilitates training programs including Supportive Home Care Worker, Personal Care Worker, Certified Nursing Assistant, Behavioral Health and other training programs to ensure that training curriculums meet or exceed state and county training standards. 4. Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds and learning styles. 5. Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at MCFI Direct Care training programs. One-on-one admissions counseling to diverse populations is an important responsibility of this position. Admissions counseling occurs primarily by in-person appointments, phone calls and emails . 6. Facilitates and provides home visits for post employment evaluation, training, skill review, supervision, and customer satisfaction as needed. 7. Prepares and provides training and assessment progress report to Caregiver Training Manager monthly or more often as required. 8. Develops and Maintains Assessment and Training policies and procedures and serves as a member of the QA team as needed. 9. Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and utilizing Microsoft Office for scheduling purposes. 10. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, team members, and other professionals on a regular basis. 11. Practices and promotes safety in the workplace. 12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor. All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning . MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Provides assessment and training during evening and weekend hours as scheduled to meet agency needs. 2. Ensures all NHS employee occupational health needs are met. This includes, but is not limited to TB skin tests, Hepatitis B injections, OSHA training and other training as needed. 3. Attends all mandatory agency in-services as required by the position. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse in the state of Wisconsin, and two years of supervisory and training experience in community-based health and human services is required. A personal vehicle and valid Wisconsin drivers license and insurance in conformity with agency limits are required. 1. Comprehensive knowledge of the physical and mental health and social service needs of individuals living in the community including ability to complete needs assessments and make recommendations regarding level of care required. 2. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees, service recipients, other agencies and organizations. 3. Ability to demonstrate flexibility and willingness to shift priorities in accordance with daily demands. 4. Ability to effectively communicate thoughts, ideas, and information both orally and in writing. 5. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact with persons from a variety of different backgrounds and experiences in a professional, diplomatic and courteous manner. 6. Skill and ability to seek solutions using appropriate methodologies. Problem solving ability to apply an appropriate combination of independent thinking, consultation with relevant staff and the collection of facts and data, and ability to use sound judgment in making decisions. 7. Ability to work effectively as a team member and cooperate in achieving common goals. 8. Ability to learn and use a personal computer, Microsoft Office, and software applications. 9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to make independent decisions to creatively address needs and concerns. More information on this Job
